1. Capital One Offers

Capital One currently has a large number of spend $50 get $50 off, $20 off $20, or $10 off $20 in spend on select retailers. These offers are targeted to each individual so you may or not get them. My wife and I both got them on our Capital One Spark Business cards. I have offers for $25 off $25 at Home Depot, $20 off $20 at Ace, and $20 off $20 at Sam’s Club. My wife got even better deals including $50 off $50 at HP and Samsung. These offers pay out in points that are redeemable 1:1 for cash either in the form of a check or a credit to your account (or transferable to partners at better values) so Capital One is basically giving you free money at many of these retailers. One thing to keep in mind is the total before tax or shipping has to be equal to or greater than the spend minimum. For example if you have to spend $20 to get $20, your pretax and shipping total has to be $20 or more.

Using a Capital One offer is simple, click on your account then toward the middle of your screen you should see a box with the title “Active shopping offers”. Click the link to the right of the box which shows “View all offers”. Next click on the offer you want to use and click “Shop online”. When you go back to the original page you should see an activated offer reference ID. Screenshot this id. Also to make sure that your deal tracks you can use the video feature in the snipping tool to video your purchase.

2. Rakuten Surfshark Deal

Rakuten currently has a deal where you get 95x every dollar you spend at Surfshark, a Virtual Private Network (VPN) company. If you buy the longest-term plan they offer for 27 months it costs roughly $112.86 and you would get 10,721 Bilt or Amex points plus whatever your credit card normally generates (1-2%). Why would you “buy” 10,721 points for $112? Because Bilt and Amex points are worth 1.5-5+ cents per point as a result of their transfer partners. Bilt has Hyatt as a transfer partner where I easily get 2 cents a point and Alaska Airlines where I personally get 3-5 cents per point on premium economy and business class bookings. Amex has a similarly impressive transfer partner list including Air France, Air Canada, and British Airways.

Note that with Rakuten you have to go to the vendor’s website through the Rakuten portal or have the Rakuten browser extension installed. I also like to use the snip tool to video tape the process so I can prove I went through the portal as evidence in case for whatever reason I am not credited with the purchase.
