1. OKX $150 sign up bonus
$150 sign-up bonus for the OKX crypto exchange

Details

OKX is a crypto exchange like Coinbase or Kraken. It is currently offering a $150 sign-up bonus if you use my link above, deposit $200, make a trade of $200 or more worth of crypto, then maintain the balance for 90 days. It appears as if buying a stable coin like USDG works, but to be safe you can buy $200 of another coin such as Ethereum and then just trade out of it. You can also refer your spouse who will also receive $150 and you will get $200 extra bringing your total to $500 in bonuses ($150X2 + $200) on $400 in deposits!

In general I hate crypto, but this is an easy bonus and you aren’t taking any directional risk. In crypto there is always a risk the exchange itself goes down, but that seems unlikely given OKX’s scale. In the interest of full disclosure OKX is huge outside of the US, but has had anti-money laundering regulatory issues here. It is in the process of doing an IPO and has undergone more regulation. Learn more about it here. Given the total amount being risked is $200 to make $150 plus any referral bonuses you rack up, I think it is worth the miniscule risk the exchange goes under.

2. United Debit Card
10k United Miles after spending $500 in the first 4 months

Details
  • Fee: $4 a month or $48 annually, waived if you have a $2,000 average daily balance
  • Sign-up bonus: 2,500 after $10k in purchases a year
  • Points: 1 mile per $2 spent on all purchases, 1 mile on United purchases
  • Debit cards DO NOT pull your credit
  • Bonus miles based on your average monthly balance below:

Review :

This card is worth getting for the 10k mile signup bonus which is extremely high for a debit card. Deposit $500, meet the $500 spend requirement, leave $8 for the monthly fees, and then once the bonus posts to your United account, cancel it. It is not worth retaining given the $48 annual fee and its poor .5 mile earning rate.

3. Southwest Debit Card
2,500 Southwest miles after two recurring deposits and spending $100

Details
  • Fee: $6.99 a month or $83.88 annually, waived if you have a $2,500 average daily balance
  • Points: 1 mile per $2 spent on all purchases, 1 mile on Southwest and subscription purchases (cable, internet, phone, streaming services, utilities, and insurance premiums)
  • Debit cards DO NOT pull your credit
  • Other bonuses : 7,500 Southwest point bonus every year, $35 statement credit for Southwest airlines purchases

Review:

For most people, I don’t think this card is worth having. $6.99 a month is a lot for a card with so little benefits. The signup bonus is okay but changing your direct deposit for Southwest points worth about $30 is probably not worth it. The one use case where this card could make sense is if you are chasing a Companion Pass and you have spending that it is difficult to use a credit card on.

4. PayPal 20% back on Pay in 4
20% off purchases if you pay using Paypal’s buy now pay later, “Pay in 4” and stack it with target $15/15% off deal

Details

PayPal currently has a great deal where you can get 20% off any vendor that accepts PayPal Pay in 4, PayPal’s “buy now pay later” product. Target, Home Depot, and Bath & Body Works are three of the many stores that allow you to Pay Later with Pay in 4. Register by clicking on accounts then Pay Later in the PayPal app or on Paypal.com. When you get to checkout, choose PayPal and then Pay Later, next select Pay in 4. DO NOT select pay monthly or the deal won’t go through. PayPal will do a “soft pull” on your credit which has no impact to your credit score. I pay down the amount outstanding the same day and then repeat the purchases the next day. I find that even with my $2,400 limit, I am able to do at most 3 transactions a day. The deal is limited to the first 1.5 billion points so act fast as it will disappear soon.

Target is offering 15% off or a $15 Target gift card on several great gift cards including Apple, Uber Eats, Microsoft, and Total Wine and More. By stacking the Target deal with the Paypal cash back you effectively get 35% back plus whatever your normal credit card’s earnings rate is.

If you don’t have Paypal, you can sign up using my referral link.

5. Amazon 40% off up to $60 for 714 Amex Points
40% off up to $60 for 714 Amex Points

Details

These deals are usually targeted so you may or may not receive it in your account but given Amazon sells everything I consider it to be almost as good as cash so this is a great deal. I try to maximize the value of the deal by buying the amount that triggers the whole discount, in this case $150.
Click the link above, then hit the “activate promotion” button. At checkout select your Amex card as the payment method and select pay with points. Pay with at least 714 Amex points and you should see -$60 appear as a discount in the upper right hand corner.
